Would rather spend an hour in a crowded, airport gate area or would you rather spend it in a quiet room with plush, leather seats, away from the hustle and bustle of one of the Nation’s largest airports? That’s what I am doing this morning and I thought I would share with you my experience at the USO at the Dallas Forth Worth Airport.
Did you know that the USO offers free food and drinks, toiletries (for a small fee in some cases), movies, Internet access, cell phones to use, a sleeping room, room to store your bags, and charging stations for all of your gadgets that might keep you sane while traveling? Did you know that all of our USO facilities are staffed by volunteers? You would think that after 13 years of marriage and multiple flights to visit family and friends that I would have taken advantage this wonderful resource. I feel like such a newbie, but I’m so glad I’m here!
It’s quiet, relaxing, and the volunteers here in Dallas are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They are so helpful and kind, and as our young men and women in uniform, or families traveling with small children shuffle threw their doors, they are here…a port in the storm for some, I’m sure. I’m humbled and honored to rely on the kindness of strangers who dedicate their time, just to say “thank you” to all of us. I highly encourage those of you who haven’t taken advantage of this phenomenal resource to try it the next time you are traveling! Thank you, USO, for making my trip easier!
