Can you imagine what it must feel like for a returning service member to climb into a luxurious and comfortable bed after months and months of sleeping on a cot? 550 members of the armed forces hang up their uniform and return to civilian life every day in America and for those individuals, returning to normality can be bittersweet. They will have missed their loved ones, their home comforts and the ability to do what they want when they want, but leaving the military can often leave a gaping hole for many. So being able to get a good night’s sleep on a quality mattress and indulging in all the things they’ve missed, is a returning service member’s key kick-starting their new life.
There is nothing that screams home more than a good home cooked meal. Of course, there’s the lavish meals out at restaurants which are missed, too. Food in the military may be free and it’s not all bad, but it does become a little predictability and being able to eat as much as you want day or night is a treat that any returning service member will tell you they’ve missed while on deployment. Of course, family and friends are sorely missed too, so planning a slap up meal either at home or out somewhere nice is a lovely and thoughtful thing to arrange when they return home.
A place to relax
Active members of the military often experience sleep problems which don’t simply go away when back on home soil. It takes time to draw a line under the things they’ve seen and the events they’ve been through and to learn to be able to switch off when the lights go off at night. A sturdy bed with a good quality, comfortable mattress is an absolute must in aiding and restoring a good sleep pattern in returning soldiers, especially for those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or sleep deprivation. The bedroom should be a tranquil and calm place which is inviting, therefore a bed, mattress, pillows, and sheets offering optimum comfort are a must for a soldier who has been serving in the military for a lengthy period of time.
Great TV and movies
Some service members are able to watch the box while on deployment, but there’s nothing quite like cozying up on the sofa with a beer and watching a sitcom with the family. Knowing that as the night draws in, there’s a glorious bed waiting upstairs rather than an unglamorous and uncomfortable cot and sleeping bag is something that all lust after. Having been away for some time, there’ll be plenty of shows and movies to catch up on and a lazy day or two watching TV is just what the doctor ordered.
Multiple hard working service members return home every day in the U.S. and after their time away from home, they seek traditional home comforts and normal day to day luxuries which most people take for granted.
