There’s Still Time to Sport a Summer Wardrobe!

Hi guys! It’s Carrie from Wildflowers and Merlot! I’m guest blogging here at the HUN excited to be talking summer fashion and beauty with you! Yes, there’s still time to sport a summer wardrobe!… or plan for next summer!

I’ve got four of my very favorite effortless looks to share, as well as some beauty tips to prevent your makeup from melting off in that summer heat.image4-1

When it comes to summer style, I prefer to keep it easy and carefree because I’m usually outside and want to be comfortable. I look for gauzy pieces made from linen and lightweight cotton that will allow my skin to breathe. I also try to stray away from “heavy” colors and opt for grays, whites, pinks, and blues instead.

When it comes to beauty, I take the same mindset. Less is more when it comes to summer makeup, and I have the perfect products for you! My beauty routine gets switched up a little bit when warmer weather rolls in. Just like my clothes, dark colors are out, and a neutral palette becomes my best friend.

I try to take extra good care of my skin during summer because I know how often I’m out in the sun. I’m very aware of what I put on my face, so I try to use only natural or naturally-based products. I love Younique’s BB Flawless, which is a light coverage, super moisturizing BB cream. I like that I can wear it on its own or wear with their Touch Powder Foundation for more of an airbrushed look. During the day, I usually only wear the BB Flawless and my 3D fiber lashes-that’s it!

At night, or if I have to get more “fancy”, I swear by my Smashbox Full Exposure palette. I love that it has a wide variety of neutral mattes and shimmers. The colors are highly pigmented and blend effortlessly. I also love Nars’ blush in (shhhh!) Orgasm. The name is definitely blush-worthy, but I promise the color is perfect for any skin tone! For my lips, I won’t wear anything but Younique’s Stiff Upper Lip Stain. It comes in seven shades that won’t smudge, smear, transfer, or bleed. I love me a bright lip, so Savvy and Skittish are perfect for me, but Sappy, a neutral pink will go anywhere!

In my photos, I have on Younique’s BB Flawless, Touch Powder Foundation, and Beachfront Bronzer as a soft contour (us porcelain girls sometimes need a little faux glow). I am wearing Nars blush in Orgasm on my cheeks and used E.L.F. blush in “Gotta Glow” as a highlighter. On my eyes, I used Smashbox’s Full Exposure palette in M6, M5, and M4. My lips have Younique’s Stiff Upper Lip Stain in Sappy on them.

Look #1: This white crochet top maxi dress is from Charlotte Russe. It caught my eye because I loved the gauzy material on the bottom and the crochet detail on the bust. It definitely brings out the flower child in me! I paired mine with a floral crown, but you can add any accessories you want!

Look #2: I love a good jumpsuit or romper for summer, especially one in a bright color like this hot pink one I found at Charlotte Russe too (I shop there a lot as it’s one of the only stores in my area)! Pair yours with some neon strappy heels and you have the perfect look for a night out! Dress it down with a pair of gladiator sandals for a more casual daytime look.

Look #3: Linen pants are perfect for summer for a variety of reasons: they are comfortable, breathable, and they pack easily! I love that I don’t have to worry about them getting wrinkled because they look fabulous either way! I found these at Old Navy and instantly fell in love. I like the blue stripe; makes me feel like I should be on a sailboat somewhere. I paired mine with a crop top, but you can pair yours with any tank or tee (I think white looks best)! The blue looks to be sold out online, but check with your local store!

Look #4: Another look exclusively from Old Navy! I saw this split-back tank in stores and HAD to have it. I love how it’s covered in the front, but the back has a nice little surprise! Added bonus-it’s SUPER comfy! Any high-neck tank will look fabulous as well. These boyfriend chinos are a favorite of mine too-and I really love the citron color. These shorts are a “boyfriend fit”, so they’re a little looser. They look amazing on every body type too! Woohoo!
