Operation Homefront: Back-To-School Brigade

As the summer comes to an end, school supplies take over places like Target and Wal-Mart. The end of summer also means a drop in temperature and of course sending kids back to school!  For many families back to school can be a financial stress.

Operation Homefront has partnered with companies like Dollar Tree and Office Depot to bring military families school supplies through their program “Back-To-School Brigade”.  This program is meant to help all military families with education expenses; there is not a requirement of financial hardship to participate. (There are other requirements families must meet to participate and registration is needed.)

Students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 will receive a back pack as well as other school supplies; spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, rulers etc.

Last year Operation Homefront provided over 33,000 backpacks to military families throughout the United States.

Families should sign up via their local chapter. You can go here  to find your local Operation Homefront chapter as well as more information about the closest base that is participating in a Back-To-School Brigade event. {Please note some bases may have already had their events, so be sure to mark your calendar to sign up for next year’s event.}
