Military Lodging

One of the many privileges of being a military member or military dependent is taking advantage of the amount of amenities on your respective base. For example, the low cost facilities we have access to on military bases, those hidden deals just for us. Great discounts at selected theme parks, even small discounts at stores. Those are few of the amazing opportunities we, as military members or military dependents, have and are very grateful for.

A great perk is military lodging on base. Most bases offer lodging, which helps with costs because it is usually much cheaper than going off base and it is tax-free. Some lodgings offer an at home feeling in their rooms with an added kitchenette, while others allow pets (which is huge plus when PCSing).

I recently stayed at the “South Mesa Lodge” in Camp Pendleton. I was absolutely amazed by the hotel and superb customer service. My husband and I checked-in before their normal time, but lucky for us they were able to accommodate us with a room. There was free continental breakfast, something which now in most hotels you have to pay extra for. The room was incredibly spacious and very well decorated. One of the things I loved about the room was that instead of putting the “room service” or “do not disturb” sign, all you had to do was push a button inside the room and outside, by the room number, a light illuminated the wording “room service” or “do not disturb”.

Base lodgings are run by their designated branch group. For example, the Marine Corps’ lodges are run by the “Inns Of The Corps”. You can compare the style of how the Inns of the Corps are run to the likes of the Sheraton or Hilton Groups. The Inns of Corps prides itself at being a high-class lodging with affordable prices for the military and it’s families. Take advantage of these lodges on your bases. They are there to accommodate you and make things a little less stressful.
