Yes! Its that time of year already, only 3 months until the Christmas season! This time of year not only brings excitement, it also puts an enormous amount of stress on families financially. If you have been thinking about how you will be able to afford holiday shopping this year – look no more. Layaway is back and some of our favorite retail stores are offering it! Talk about a great way to get all your shopping done in one trip, without having to shell out the cash.
A great way to stretch your budget and pay when you can, here is a list of all the retail stores offering the layaway program this holiday season:
Large ticket items like bikes, dollhouses, play kitchens, car seats and strollers may be placed on layaway. Must make a 20% deposit, pay all applicable taxes and pay a $5 service charge at the time the item is placed on layaway. Half of total due must be paid within 45 days, remaining balance must be paid within 90 days or by the designated Holiday Cutoff (whichever is sooner). Canceled orders will result in a $10 fee. Layaway is currently offered in stores only.
Available in store and online (for all items marked with the layaway icon). Pay $15 or 10% down (whichever is greater) and a $5 initiation fee. Then, make payments over an eight-week period. What about small businesses and other retailers? Most likely if it isn’t advertised, then the store doesn’t offer the program. However, if you have a favorite store you shop at frequently, why not ask a manager if they offer layaway or if they have thought about offering it for customers?! And there are many other stores depending on the area, that do offer layaway. Next time you are shopping in your favorite store, ask!
